Secretary General of the Slovak Atlantic CommissionRóbert Vass studied at Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations at University of Matej Bel in Banská Bystrica. He started his professional career as a president of non-governmental organisation Euro-Atlantic Center in 2002. He had remained in this position for the next four years. As the president of EAC he was in the lead of an executive team consisting of ten members and fifty other in the broader membership. During his presidency many projects aimed at foreign policy, Euro-Atlantic integration and international security were organised (Slovakia for Europe – Europe for Slovakia; The New Security Environment – Facing New Security Challenges). EAC achieved a significant development and became an important part of international and Slovak non-governmental community under his leadership. In 2004, he was chosen by the UN Information Service in Vienna to become a temporary representative of Slovakia. In 2005, Róbert Vass was charged with administering Slovak Atlantic Commission (SAC) with the aim to revitalize its activities. In 2006, he was elected its Chairman and in 2008 its Secretary General. With Róbert Vass being in the lead of SAC, it has achieved substantial development, opened two offices in Banská Bystrica and Bratislava, become an exclusive member of Atlantic Treaty Association. During his professional career he aimed to raising support for transatlantic integration and forming transatlantic pillar of Slovak foreign and security policy. He started a tradition of prestigious international security conferences GLOBSEC and established successful magazine Euro-Atlantic Quarterly.
