
Senior fellow for Europe at Chatham House
Robin Shepherd is a senior fellow for Europe at Chatham House. Prior to coming to Chatham House he was a senior transatlantic fellow with the German Marshall Fund of the United States based in Bratislava, where he focused on global integration issues in central and eastern Europe as well as the relationship between economic development and democratization. Previously he was a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the Moscow Bureau Chief for the The Times (London). Mr Shepherd has extensive experience working and living in central and eastern Europe during the 1990s and post -2000. He is the author of Czechoslovakia, the Velvet Revolution and Beyond (Macmillan/St. Martin's Press 2000), a book which looked at the first decade of economic and political transition in the former Czechoslovakia. He speaks Slovak, Czech, Russian and French and has published widely on the region in major international and regional newspapers and journals.
