Bratislava Security Conference will be broadcasted live on the Internet

The Globsec 2010 conference to be held on Monday and Tuesday in Bratislava will be broadcasted live on the internet. Thus, discussions with key personalities of international politics will be available to the wider public.

Besides Visegrad diplomacy leaders, Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nickolai Mladenov and deputies of ministries of foreign affairs of Ukraine and the Kingdom of Norway, the conference will be attended by OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Iurie Leancă and many other key representatives of governmental and non-governmental sector. Live broadcast of all panel discussions will be available on the official conference website www.globsec.org.

During two days of the event, within seven panels and two informal evening discussions, the participants will discuss hot foreign-policy and security topics of the present times. Among others, the discussion will cover changes which the Lisbon Treaty has brought to European diplomacy, ongoing elaboration of the NATO new Strategic Concept, complicated internal political situation in Bosnia and also the consequences of the economic crisis in connection with the Western position in world politics.

The core of the conference discussions will be  the future of cooperation of the Visegrad countries which, after this year’s elections in the region, are finding themselves in a constellation favourable to common actions in many major issues. Moreover, Hungary and Poland will assume the presidency of the European Union next year. Thus, common approach in shared interests would allow the V4 to shape the discussions about the upcoming preparation of the next European budget, as well as about energy security so important  for Central Europe.

The GLOBSEC 2010 conference is organized by the Slovak Atlantic Commission, in cooperation with Slovak Ministry for Foreign Affairs, European Commission Representation in Slovak Republic and NATO Public Diplomacy Division and will be live-streamed on the conference website www.globsec.org.
