Foreign policy leaders will meet in Bratislava

At the beginning of March Bratislava will become a place for strategic political discussions. The current Slovak presidency of the Visegrad Group will draw attention to political priorities of this region with the meeting of foreign ministers of Visegrad and Eastern Partnership countries. The official event will be followed by the 6th annual prestigious GLOBSEC Security Forum.

The event will take place under foreign media scrutiny and highlight Slovakia and the whole Central European region. The successful story of Central European countries has created a prerequisite for their active formulation of European and Alliance policy. The current political constellation presents a unique opportunity to take advantage of this position.

Bratislava ´s strategic position has made it a place of international contact serving as a medieval crossroad of trade, coronation place for Hungarian kings or a place of various peace agreements which contributed to its special atmosphere.

This historical message predestines Bratislava to become the mediator of international discussion. After hosting Bush – Putin summit in 2005 and recent ministerial meeting of NATO there again comes an opportunity for Bratislava to show its potential in the best light as the right place for congresses and significant political and expert meetings.

Bratislava Security Forum GLOBSEC is the most significant annual event of its kind in Central Europe. Since its beginning, a number of foreign policy leaders, representatives of non-governmental, academic and business sphere and journalists have passed through its gates.

During the Slovak V4 presidency, followed by Hungarian and Polish European Union presidency, GLOBSEC offers an opportunity to articulate Central European views in context of European and Transatlantic foreign policy, security and economic issues.

Bratislava Global Security Forum GLOBSEC will be organized on 2-4 March in the exclusive premises of the Kempinski Hotel River Park Bratislava by the Slovak Atlantic Commission in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, NATO Public Diplomacy Division and the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia. The official program and further information are available at the conference ´s webpage www.globsec.org.
