What started as a local protest in the small but comparatively prosperous Arab country of Tunisia evolved into the most important historical power shift in the Arab World since decolonization. GLOBSEC Bratislava Global Security Forum created a special session to cover the situation.Although this topic was not originally on the agenda, GLOBSEC Bratislava Global Security Forum, as the leading foreign policy and security event in Central Europe, could not neglect the most pressing issue faced by the global community.
As a result, the forum has included a Night Owl Session on the agenda at the last moment. Moreover, a special GLOBSEC Policy Brief dealing with the situation and its consequences for the region, the West, and the World has been published. For journalists, a special “on the record” discussion with the most renowned experts has been prepared to answer their questions.
Hundreds have been killed, two regimes (Egypt, Tunisia) have been overthrown and another in Tripoli is under heavy attack. Of course, this is not the complete picture; Morocco, Jordan, Iran, Yemen, Bahrain and Iraq are also uprising countries.
The GLOBSEC Bratislava Global Security Forum is organised by the Slovak Atlantic Commission under the auspices of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic Mikuláš Dzurinda and in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, NATO Public Diplomacy Division, European Commission Representation in Slovakia and the International Visegrad Fund on the exclusive premises of the Kempinski Hotel River Park Bratislava.
