H. E. Mr. Jaroslav Baška was born on April 5, 1975. He graduated with Honours from the Žilina University, Electro-Technical Faculty. From 2001 to 2002 he was a Project Manager of Information Systems. Later on, from 2002 to 2006, he served as a Member of Parliament (representant of the Smer-Social Democracy) and Member of the Parliament Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (2003 – 2006). During 2006 – 2008, Jaroslav Baška was a Mayor of Dohňany. In 2006, was re-elected as a Member of Parliament. In the same year he became Secretary of State of the Ministry of Defence and since January 30, 2008, has been serving as the Defence Minister of the Slovak Republic.
